How Did We Solve It?
In 2007, De Montfort University’s additive manufacturing (AM) and 3D printing lab began to use a high-speed milling machine. We implemented additive and this combination of additive and subtractive technologies led to a 4-year UK research project called RECLAIM (Re-manufacturing of high-value products using a Combined Laser Cladding, Inspection and Machining System).
To create a more practical solution, we developed a suite of deposition heads that could be added to CNC machines without changing its structure. This research led to the development of our AMBIT™ tool-changeable deposition system. By 2013, Hybrid Manufacturing Technologies was turning this innovation into a commercial reality.
